We have just released patch 1.45 for the Australian retail version of Beyond Divinity. This game update will upgrade Beyond Divinity to version 1.45

For more information or to download the patch, follow this link
Australian version.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

aren't they english too.... or do they say things like,

"throw another imp on the barbie there DK ole mate" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />
or....
"that's not a knife.....
(pulling out unique deathblade of Rannar)
...this is a knife" ,
or,
instead of saying, "i got me a donk", it'll be more like "i got me a DK"

and i'm sorry for the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" /> but couldn't resist this one... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />
I think they fixed the bug in the Australian version when you threw the boomerang it didn't come back.

And the Imps are now called Chuzzlewollops! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
lucky i looked here an havent applied any patches yet

Come on love, grab yourself a beer and try not to worry too much
and throw another imp on the barbie! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />
Hi,

Australian and English version have two different type of starforce protection. That's why there are 2 different patch <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

Voila
Yann
cheers for that
just dont forget us AUSSIES though when it comes to patches <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I have to pay that one! Nice pun.

Good to see they've made a patch for us Aussies. Unfortunately a 25meg download is out of the question on my dial-up modem connection. I wish that games companies would set up some sort of patch distribution system on disk, via the retail stores, for those without broadband or with no internet at all. By the time they turn up on magazine CDs (occasionally) I've always finished the game.

After all, they use the same network to distribute demo disks and other promo stuff - just not the fixes for the mistakes they make... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

Perhaps they should require the local distirbutors to do it as part of the licencing package? But I doubt it will happen.
25mb is nothin
im on dial up myself an it only took a bit over an hour

download getright so if you get disconnected you can resume it an then go play another game, watch tv or read a book while it downloads

easy

That's simply not true for everybody. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" />

It depends entirely on where you are, how good your local connections are, what part of the world you're downloading to and from etc.

I also need to get this patch and there's no way it will take an hour. I just downloaded a download manager so that I can leave it running overnight and if the patch itself downloads at the same rate it will take 7 hours!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Most downloads from here start off fairly fast and then quickly drop back to a slow crawl. If I lived a few kilometers down the road I could get broadband, but not where I live.
my heart feels for you, and all others who can only have dial-up....
i remember those <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> days...... i downloaded from 12AM till 7AM cuz it was free, but sooooooo slooooowwww!
i remember waking up in the morning.... to be only half done! Wahhhh Wahhhh, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />
there is hope for you dial-up users....it's just a matter of time..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Was that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" /> ??

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" />
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the sympathy! (Oh yes, nice imp on the barbie joke too!)

As it turned out I downloaded a download manager that Raze put me onto and tried it out on the 1.45 patch. Some whizzbang Chinese job that splits the file up into multiple threads and can get more than one simultaneously.

I fired it up and it started reporting 45 to go, 40, 35, 20, 15... all in the space of about fifteen minutes - until it finally settled down to reporting a steady 10-12. Wow! I thought, this looks amazing.... until I grabbed the dividing line and expanded the time column. It was HOURS not minutes!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Fortunately my friend at the local computer shop offered to get it for me via his home broadband. It took 8mins 33 secs.

Bangs head on desk..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

I know the feeling, Kris. I switched to broadband recently, and it makes all the difference.

Not really mate. The few kilometers down the road would put me in Midland - a town so ugly that it has been said that if the world had two *rseholes, Midland would be both of them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Whereas I now live on 5 acres of beautiful bushland, with lovely views, surrounded by wildlife, in a house I rather like (that I designed and built myself). Some things are worth sacrificing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

It would be nice if patches were also available some other way, but I guess it's unlikely.
nice "stately manor" Kris.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> good job, on the house!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks oh mighty orc. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I couldn't have done it without the support of my lovely wife who brought in the money while I did the building. Saved us a heap doing all the work myself.

Had enough left over to put another toy in the carport (makes a change from playing RPGs... ).

In game review terms, the 'other' toy is graphically appealing (to me anyway). Awesome sound. Suitable for both leisurely play and also for those days when you feel more like some fast adrenaline-charged Diablo 2 style action. (No it’s not a Diablo – I wish – it’s an RX8). Extensively tested before release (although, ironically, it appears that even cars aren’t entirely bug-free these days. On its last service the latest upgrade patch was applied to its engine management computer!) Definitely one for an RPG fan who appreciates a bit of Magic in his life…. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Enough off topic waffle from me... I'll get thrown off the forum, but here's a pic:

Vrooooom... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />
I'm thinking about buying an RX8 next year, ubt I doubnt if I'll be able to afford it.

anyways, we're getting <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />
nice tho, i'm green with envy...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Hey all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ok so I downloaded Australian patch [almost 2 hours and 25MB later], but when I try to install it I get a message saying:

"this is not the good game version"

My question is what does this mean??? lol although I bought my copy of Beyond Divinity on eBay, I am pretty sure that this is the Australian version of it and not the US version, so yeah, am hoping someone can help me with this lol <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks in advance <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Eddie
Hi Eddie,

Please send an email with a description of the problem to support@larian.com
We need to send you a small file to solve this problem.

Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
Lynn
The patch checks the registry to find the install path, and will give that error if it doesn't find what it expects. In Windows XP, did you install the game from an account with administrative privileges? I assume so, since you didn't mention any problems with the copy protection. Have you used any registry compression or cleaning tools, that may have been a little too aggressive?

You can check out this topic for the download and description of a reg file you can use (I don't think there is a difference between English versions as far as the registry is concerned, but there may be), or Larian support can email you a much more user friendly vbs (Visual Basic Script) file to create / alter the required registry entries.

Did you need to type in a CD key during install? The Australian English version of the game requires a CD key, while the UK and North American English versions do not. There are also differences in the ratings, publishers, etc.

Raze I actually have had problems with the copy protection, which was why I downloaded the patch to try to see if that would solve the problem.

Nah, there wasn't any cd key when I installed the game, I also compared the rating on the box with other games I have [which I know have the Australian rating on them] and they were all different to the rating on Beyond Divinity, so I think I may have the American version or something, will I still be able to play it? It says its an ESRB rating [www.esrb.org], I'm not sure if thats an American rating or not...
ok so I downloaded the latest English version of the patch, and it installed fine and or dandy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Now I've just gotta get past this cd protection error thingy lol.
Yes, you have the North American version, since it has an ESRB rating of T (for teen). The UK version has a PEGI rating of 12+, while the Australian rating is MA15+. I think the main difference between the English versions is the publisher's choice of copy protection and packaging. In any case, that should not cause any problems.

What exactly is your problem with the copy protection?

Make sure you have disk 2 (the play CD) in an optical drive, and not disk 1. If possible, try a different optical drive (the copy protection can decide it will only accept the CD in a certain drive).

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to start the game?

You could try updating the copy protection drivers; Updating or removing StarForce drivers.

If all else fails, if you get an error message (either 'disk detection' or 'no disk found'), click the 'Information' button, then when that finishes, click the 'View Report' button. Save the resulting text file somewhere, optionally zip it, and email it to Larian (support@larian.com) with a description of the problem. They can create a file the copy protection can use to check your system on startup, rather then the play CD.

We should probably move this to a new topic, if it is going to take much more to resolve.
Nah its cool mate thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I think I'll just send a report thing to Larian, as that seems like the simplest option, and I've tried everything else lol.

Thanks for the assist <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
why is our patch 1.45 and other patches are 1.49?

The Australian publisher may have objected to removing the copy protection, or they may simply have not wanted to put any effort into another patch.

If you change the game's language setting in the registry to 'English', it will allow you to install the 1.49 North American / UK English patch, which removes copy protection. Other than a different version of Starforce, I wouldn't expect the Australian publishers to have made a lot of changes to the game itself, so there shouldn't be any problems with this (a couple people have already done this to get the Australian version working in Vista).
There is a download and description of a reg file in this topic to change the language, if you are not comfortable doing it manually.
thanks for the tip. will probably do this when i finish my current game. will compare 1.45 to 1.49 to see if worth the hassle. thnx again <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The English patch page lists the changes between the 1.45 patch and 1.47. In addition to removing copy protection (in 1.49) so you no longer need to keep the CD in an optical drive, the bigest changes are that the Lockpick skill was fixed and the overweight penalty was changed to not being able to move (this means summoning dolls make even better mules, since they can carry unlimited weight as long as you don't need them to move around).
