If you search for that error, you will notice that many people have this issue with all kinds of different games. In general, it means that the video card stopped responding to commands for a number of seconds (2 by default). This can have many causes.
The reason it happens with different games/programs for different people, is probably that one of the possible causes is video card overheating. Different cards will have different weak spots due to manufacturing variations, so these defects can be triggered by different sequences/kind of GPU operations (also, the editor is much more GPU intensive than the game, because it zooms out much more and renders a lot more). If that is the problem in your case, it is usually solvable by using MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, ... to underclock your video card a little. See e.g.
