If you smash a barrel, you see it destroyed, [color:"yellow"]then[/color] you hear the sound. Same when you hit an ennemy, open a door, etc.

Does anyone else have the same problem? (not a big deal, but a bit odd)

Have you tried reinstalling/updating your sound drivers.
I know I had numerous sound problems with freelancer because the drivers were not installed properly and were old.
The sound problems ceasd after I updated and reinstalled the sound drivers.

Also try going to RUN from the start menu and typing in "dxdiag". This will open the directx diagnostic tool. Then go to sound 1, sound 2 and music and do all of the tests there.

Also it is highly advisable to download directx 9b or 9 (9b is a very slightly improved version of 9).

Another thing to do is go to control panel and find out (through system what devices you have then download all the latest drivers for each of them. This should improve the sytem in general and reduce thre risk of crashing.

Basically, i think if your sound acceleration is lower or higher than your hardware acceleration than the sound will mess up, i think.

So do the above and see if that works hehe.

Make sure your system is free of viruses aswell by scanning using something like macafee, AVG or norton antivirus (AVG is free!).

Hope all of that helps hehe

I have all the latest drivers for my sound card and a very good machine.
I also have directX9.0b, and all sound tests in dxdiag are fine.
I do not have this specific problem with other games.

The sound quality in itself is very correct, but the sound is slightly (but noticably) delayed: I smash a barrel, see it smashed, then I hear the sound.
Same for all sound effects.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it really a problem with my pc configuration?

Thanks for any feedback,
Philippe

I also had a slight lag smashing barrels, but don't remember a significant delay for other sound effects. Occasionally there were shorter, less noticeable delays, but nothing else distinct that stood out.

i had lags...with barrel sounds, never noticed if the door sound
is in sync or not, and some 10sec freezes, but one for sure
always in the same spot...across the top of the first screen,

what are the other sound effects that lag?

It has been awhile since I played the demo, but I think I had the DK's sword attack sound effect come late in the swing a few times. I occasionally got a 1 second slowdown, sometimes approaching areas that trigger cut scenes.

Yeah, same kind of delay as I have. Seems to be inherent to the program rather than pc config, then.

If they can polish it up for the final release, cool.
If not, too bad. Not a big deal anyway.
