A number of people who purchased this game have been having difficulty with the CD check not recognizing the disc in the drive and asking for a "valid disk key". No such disk key is to be found anywhere on the items included in the box. The suggestion has been made that the 2nd disk needs to be in the drive, and that this second disk is clearly labelled "Play Disk".

This is NOT the case with the North American release of the game. The 2nd disk is identified only as "Disc Two" (and the first one is "Disc One") Most games use Disc one as the play disc, so I think there is going to be some misunderstandings with a lot of North Americans who get this game and cannot get the game to start.

In addition, the game will not verify my second disc (even though it installed the game just fine from both discs) Please, PLEASE tell us that there is an easy work around. This is most distressing to those of us who want to play the game (and those who are waiting for initial impressions concerning the stability of the game before buying)

Thanks for your response! Kay's suggestion is to use Disc Two instead of Disc One. This has worked for some people (although the discs are not labelled "Install Disc" and "Play Disc" as Kay suggests) I had no problem installing the game and then the patch, but when I try to start the game with Disc two the CD Check gives the error message that there is no disc in the drive.(btw, all my drivers are up-to-date)

If anyone can help on this issue, it would mean a lot to me. I am looking forward to playing this wonderful game!

sorry for asking too much questions but do u have any programs running in the background? u can check by pressing ctrl+alt+delete (quickly & not too long).

if u happen to use nero (cd burning software), it has this drive speed program that can manually set the speed of cd drive & i find that program can mess with the cd drive's detection.

First, I do not own any CD-copying software or hardware.

Here is what is shown as running in the basckground when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del:

Explorer
Rnaapp
Point32
Swtray
Qttask
Systray

Again, I hope this helps.

The only problem I had with the cd key, is that when you have multiple CD-ROM drives, it worked for me only in the drive that was physically first. Regardless of which drive I used to install the game from.

You can shut down everything but Explorer and Systray. Doing so will at least let you know if something else running is causing a conflict. Point32 is probably for your mouse, required if you want to use a scroll wheel in the game to zoom.

I can have disk 2 in either drive and it will work. However, if disk 1 is in the first drive, the copy protection checks that CD and not the second one (same labels), then gives an error.
