After I rescue Taxilix and the other imp, I run outside and then the cutscene starts..we get halfway over the lava and then Samuel starts telling his creatures to capture us blah blah blah...Well that's when I get stuck..My people are stuck out in the lava just standing there, I can see the blue X on my auto map, but all I can see is Samuel standing in front of his temple or whatever it's called...Nothing moves! I've tried EVERYTHING, I've updated EVERYTHING, I've since downloaded and installed the patch 1.45 before the "stick" I was playing WITHOUT the patch and was doing ok up till this point so that's when I decided I would download it..Well now that I've downloaded the patch I go back to my other saved games and I can only move around the Imp Village, I should mention that I found the lava path BEFORE I rescued Tax, then I went back when I realized I forgot something, anyways I can't move...I've updated drivers for everything including the latest packages from microsoft..I don't want to start over at this point! WHY does this game have SO MANY bugs..I loved the first one and was SOOOOO looking forward to playing this one. I've tried reloading it in different resolutions and nothing just the same swaying Samuel..Does anyone have a saved game past this point that I could have, maybe that would work?

Do you have a save before crossing the lava? That is what is causing the problem. A couple other people got a hanging cut scene on entering the fire forest, after finding the lava path on their own.

If you don't have a previous save, I still have my old saves (warrior DK, crossbow archer hero). How much of the village had you explored, and in what order? I can email you a save at the end of the prison, start of the village, or at some point after that.

Wow, that's a generous offer Raze - given that saves seem to run in the 40-60 megabyte size. That would take literally all day to download on my crummy old dial up connection. So I guess you must have broadband.

Have you worked out what all the different files are for? I've seen as little as 22 and as many as 30 files in a save folder, and I tried a few experiments to see what they were all for.

In my case it was because the teleport stones wouldn't follow me from act 2 to act 3 (unpatched) so I tried the trick of putting some items on the ground, leaving some in inventory, and then swapping some files between saves. But although I had some success, I couldn't quite get everything to pan out just right, so I abandoned the tests after getting the patch.

What I'm getting at, is would it be possible to email just some of the files if a complete save was rather too big a chunk?

I was planning on zipping the save. My 24 MB folder at the start of the imp village compresses down to 2.3 MB. Even when the save size doubles after visiting the battlefields, it should still be small enough to email for most ISP accounts (free web mail usually has a 1 MB attachment limit).

I have at least some idea what most of the files do (in some cases maybe only part of their function). A couple people have tried getting the teleporter stones back in act 4 or 5 without success, and in act 3 with limited success.

Mixing files from different saves might cause problems (missing quest items, cut scenes not being triggered, etc), though it depends on the situation. If file size was the only reason to try that, it would be better split the zip into smaller sections, or upload the save to a webspace for download, rather than email.

Wow. Great compression Raze!

I tend to forget about zipping stuff up, after having achieved very little useful compression on the few occasions I've used it. But of course it depends a lot on the nature of what you're zipping. 2.3 megs from 24 is fantastic!

I must remember to freshen up all those old zip, rar, (and whatever) utilities I have kicking around in my Tools folder.

I had quite a lot of success with stripping everything off the 2 characters (which takes a while!) and just leaving an item or two in basic inventory to swap. If I did that in both the "to" and "from" saves it seemed to work. But I was also playing around with other aspects, like what they're wearing, what's on the ground etc. Sometimes it partially worked but I also had some rather hilarious stuff ups!

To complicate things I didn't start mucking around until after I'd patched, so the old saves were 1.32 and the new ones 1.45. I wasn't trying to cheat by doubling up items, just seeing if I could get the stones back without having to redo the parts of Act 3 I'd already done.

Although I could successfully import other items (and have them work) I never got the stones to work that way. They'd arrive, but labelled "Ancient Pyramids" instead of "Teleporter Stones" and they wouldn't work.

I quite enjoy experimenting to see what i can find out, so I'll probably have another fiddle after I've finished the game.

Hi Raze..thank you for the saved game however even that didn't work..so far nothing is working...I even tried to leave one of my pyramids in the imp village and then come back across the lava hoping I could talk to the imp chiefs son that way, no go..I still have to talk to tax first and then the scene where we run across the lava starts and then stops half way again..I even un loaded the game and reloaded and used an older save game..NOTHING is working..

Larian, can I get my money back for this game?

If the cut scene is hanging even in my save, then the problem is either with the game (which re-installing should have helped) or a conflict with your system. Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Try deleting the files in the dynamics folders;
'..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act1\Dynamic', '..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act2\Dynamic', etc.
These folders are used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied to those folders when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Beyond Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in those folders, deleting the files should fix the problem.

After that, try loading my save and see if it works, then try one of yours if it does.
If none of them work, try running the configuration program and lowering the resolution. Is your desktop colour depth set to 16 bit high colour or 32 bit true colour? In DD some people encountered problems in 32 bit, that switching to 16 bit fixed. Maybe try setting your desktop resolution to 640x480 temporarily; maybe avoiding the resolution change for the cut scene will also avoid the hanging problem.

I can email you a save just after the cut scene, but it would be better to try to figure out the source of the hang, in case later cut scenes are similarly effected.

Hi Raze..It wasn't getting stuck with your save it wouldn't even let me SEE your save once I put it under the saved games file so I couldn't even load it..

I have since unloaded and reloaded the game, installed the patch and done everything (so far) IN sequence and I've gotten past that spot where it would hang..It took a few days extra of playing but I figure by that time I was pretty experienced anyways. So far so good..I still have a Loooong ways to go before I get caught up to where I was before but at least I'm passed that stuck point.

Thanks again though for trying to help.
