Hi,

Either I'm spectacularly unlucky or this game has more bugs than a flophouse mattress. I seem to get 'em all. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

When I tried the first summoning test in Act 4 I collected all 3 items + the rune and reported to the appropriate room. The guy refused to acknowledge that I had all the ingredients although I definitely did. I tried putting them down, picking them up etc. (which incidentally I also had to do with the mushroom after the imp also flatly refused to give the required conversation tree) but to no avail.

I had stopped on the way back and talked to some of the NPCs, who appeared to have no recollection of our previous conversations and tried to restart from the beginning (i.e "pay me 500 gold to get in") so maybe that reset a flag in the code, when it shouldn't?? Either way, I eventually restarted from well back and did the whole dreary collection thing again. This time it worked.

Now I have gone up to Level 3 where I met more Raanaar ghosts. After doing 3 lengthy quests for the Truth Ghost, Cave Ghost and Ghost (Anbassam) and 2 short quests for a Philospher and a Student, I've hit a wall. The Instructor just keeps telling me to talk to more people, but there aren't any more! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

On checking a very old save I see that when I first arrived there was another Ghost (Anguram?) who is no longer around. Since my first arrival (the only save where Anguram exists) I've spent hours in the Battlefields plus doing all the other quests. I don't want to have to repeat all that. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" />

But is that the only option? Is Ghost (Anguram) the missing link that's stopping me going on? Is there any other way I might be able to persuade him to reappear?? Sob..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

I'm already patched to 1.45, so that won't fix anything. Anything else I could try?

Hmm. Must have been another bug I guess.

I couldn't find any way of getting the missing ghost to appear (no green cross that could reveal where it was, and I couldn't find him stuck or hidden anywhere. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

So I had to go back and restart that level. This time I did the the quests for the two guys just labelled "Ghost" first and nobody else disappeared on me this time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" />

I skipped re-doing all the battlefields stuff, but it didn't seem to matter. I still ended up on level 31. I approached the final battle with 80 unspent attribute points (40 for each character) and about 30 unused skill points. Fortunately, the final battle was still not hard to win, and with the aid of a good stack of mana potions I was able to hammer the last foe without trouble... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Not one of Larian's better efforts, alas, but at least I enjoyed Acts 2 and 3.

Good luck to Larian with the next game, but I don't think I'll be buying it if it's as roughly finished and unevenly paced as this one... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />
