I've finished the Dark Cave, defeated Ragon, and I'm looking for the book that completes Barbatos quest.
I have turned both the statues until the no longer turn. Are there more than two statues to manipulate? The book does not seem to appear, so chances are I'm doing something incorrectly.

I remember there being at least three, possibly four. The other(s) are on higher ground than those on the path itself.
