As a workaround for that issue, you always can edit config file manually and then lock it with "read-only" flag. Worked fine before.

Do you know if the patch will be compatible with the Direct2Drive version or they have to release their own patch?

Reporting in that I am having no problems with the new patch using a GTX 480 and everything seems to be running fine. (And having a lot of fun so far!)

Great - thx for the feedback.

If anybody wants to give the updated patch a go (so with fix for the resolution problems in it), you can get it here:

http://www.larian.com/dragonknightsaga_support_forum.php

We're not making it official yet, because we want to hear confirmation from the people who had problems yesterday that all is fine now, but if we don't hear anything bad, we'l make it official tomorrow morning.

Not yet - Steam has a special patching system. We'll probably upload it to Steam tomorrow, but they'll probably want to verify it so it might take a bit more time before they release it.

Oh God, I was hoping for some patched DKS sweetness today, but since I've got the Steam version I'll need to wait one more day frown Such a bummer with Steam and patches, yet those exclusive armour sets are really worth it grin

Well the Patch work, but there is still no anti-aliasing in "The Dragon Knight Saga". You can switch triggers in the configuration... but nothing visual happens.

I installed the patch just now cause my game crashes as soon as I enter Aleroth (in the second phase) hoping the patch might fix that but it doesn't and what's worse is that I have a lot of seethrough surroundings now including my own character.
I can see them but can also see through them which doesn't allow for the best perspective. Seeing that my game now crashes in Aleroth (even after reinstalling) it might not be representative but I thought I should let you know nontheless.
I'm running Vista 64bit and use a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS.

I just registered to offer some feedback on this patch.

The patch works fine on dual GTX285s set up for SLI and also seems to have fixed two issues I was having:

- Update: just returned to Champion Harbor from Aleroth and the anti-dragon shields are mostly invisible again. The surfaces of anti-dragon zones would sometimes disappear after using teleport pads, leaving only the faint reddish glow which could barely be seen.
- It was possible to fall through the deck near the base of the ladder at Camp Eagle's Nest in Orobas Fjord.

I set the frame rate cap to 60 because 30 is noticeably sluggish on my system. My computer has no issues running this game at ultra settings, which is very nice. Oh and I'm using a 1920x1200 PC display.

I wrote down a few other issues I was having and haven't been able to check all of them (will require new character). They're here for your consideration, at least.

Verified issues that still exist after this patch:

- Spontaneous Combustion jewelry enchantment scrolls have weapon icons and say "Weapon Enchantment" in the tooltip. However, when learned they properly appear with other jewelry enchantments.
- Use of the Dragon Stone always places the character into combat mode upon arriving at new location. I know it's cosmetic but please change it.

Issues I noticed while playing with last patch; untested with this patch:

- "Benedict's Diary" is placed under the quest tab in inventory but the other two diaries aren't. Even if they are quest items, completing the quest doesn't remove them, and because Benedict's diary is in the quest tab I can't sell it or destroy it (I can sell the other two).
- The key on the chandelier in the stairway down to Maxos' Temple Library doesn't seem to have a use. I'm done with the Fjords and still have that one key in my inventory.
- On Sentinel Island, I watched Eleanor fall through the map every time she approached her tent, and pop out again when walking back to her husband's kettle.
- Static objects sometimes move when the character approaches, and if they can't move they often get stuck playing an annoying, looping collision sound effect. Sometimes it kills my game sound and I have to exit to desktop and re-launch the game.

I recently downloaded the DKS version of D2 here in the US (from Amazon) and I've been enjoying it a lot. Have to say this game has given me more laughs and enjoyment than any other game I've played in recent years.

Very good question, apoc! wink Can someone please post the address we're supposed to send our save files to if we discover they're bugged?

Patch is working nice with my ATI4900 at 1280x1024.
I notice that now aero is disabled at the beginning, maybe to enforce a better compatibility.
Finally I can change the refresh rate. For now I'm setting to 45 and it's already an huge difference from the previous 30. Now the game is smooth.
Thanks.

I already installed the previous patch and got no problem with Nvidia card.

Can we install the new patch over the previous one ?
Os is it better to reinstall the game from scratch and re-patch with the new one ?
