Yes, it works. It's magic wink

Well, you can always import the scripts you need. You should also be able to see the scripts you imported (or copied correctly to the folder) and then hit generate+build. Though you need to edit the scripts! In case of the character creation screen I bet you must change which level will be loaded after the creation is done etc. But I have not tried any of that, so I cannot really be of help.

Indeed the char creation screen is similar, brings all the nostalgia to me :]

Grats again, you're doing great work here that many will appreciate.

Thank you smile. I was trying to capture the same background as the original D2 character creation screen. Should i try to change it a bit maybe make it less similar or add in some things, like statues or something?

Sorry there hasn't been much updates today been busy with sorting out college stuff. Tomorrow i will be finishing the Den of Evil and starting the Burial Grounds.

Perhaps reduce the intensity of the fireplace light, make it more grim. Other than that looks good to me.

Pretty cool what you've made there and especially amazing how you managed to create a working dialogue - it's something that's causing me a headache... on the other hand it could also be lack of sleep but, whatever. Headache!

Mind telling us what dark magic you used for it? No worries, noone of us here is a Source Hunter. :P

I really like how you recreated the Harrogath character selection by the way, very impressive.

The first act's camp could need some tweaking in terms of fog I think (it looks very off at distance and ends abruptly behind a clean line of trees, so I would rework that border a bit). You can achieve the required grey amount with the post process settings in the atmosphere panel for sure and I bet with a proper fog colour it could look even better! That is, if you didn't change it already (it's only evident on the overall view of the camp which might be out of date. Maybe you don't get to see that far ingame).
I advise to think about the "close up dialogue" option in the game options though, this might make it visible.

Really looking forward to playing a turn-based 'Act 1'. Good luck on this project, this could very well turn into something undeniably awesome!

Main Menu screen.

Also keep or remove the lava spout?

Updates will be a bit slow over the weekend. Daughter takes priority, but i will do my best.

This time next week i hope to have up to Stony fields / Tristram complete. (It is possible to create the stone puzzle for the portal to tristram and maybe with some tinkering in the material editor maybe even make the rocks look similar too)

Does anyone know how to get combat working or know the script for it? I can write in the first quest for The Den of Evil, but as for getting combat to start that is beyond me. I would like to have that ready for demo just so you can see how the maps are layed out and how it looks running around, the camera is slightly adjusted on my mod almost similar to the camera in D3 just because of the way i re-scaled everything.

lmao, funny you mention that i was just debating with someone whether that should be in the game or not. If i can find a way to make a portal appear under specific conditions almost like the escort archeologist quest, but conditions are items not NPC and have the portal appear in town when you arrive at the specific location with "Wirts Leg" and "Teleport Pyramid".

We may very well see the Cow level smile.

I've been wrangling the editor since it released trying to get it to work. Finally, I get some limited success in being able to generate terrain, seed AI, generate AI grid, move it to the proper place, and insert a character. Hooray. I go to google to find some images of the rogue encampment to start building a D2 total conversion for D:OS, and one of the images it returns is linked to this thread. :*( I'm late to the party. You're already beyond the Den of Evil, and I'm just now getting my editor to not eat itself.

Let me know if you'd like a collaborator. I don't know the D:OS scripting just yet, but it's just a matter of learning how they constructed the statements (some of them are obvious). I wouldn't mind working on scripting events, scripting quests, etc. if you're really into making the maps.

Drop me a PM if you don't want to have to do this all by yourself.

This looks awesome, great work so far!
I'm not doing much this week, might get stuck into the editor and see if I can figure out enough to contribute in some way.

Hi there, I just wanted to point at an error in your article.

Quote
Specifically, forum user Shidiwen is recreating the gloomy hub town of Sanctuary

The "town" that this modder is recreating is called the "Rogue Encampment".

Sanctuary is the name of the entire Diablo world.

I spotted some typos as well :P

Also, I played Diablo 1, 2 and sometimes still 3. So many great memories with the first and second.

I'd be happy to help, though I must admit I still need to get the hang of the toolkit.

Let me know if you want some amateur help! Would love to!

I'm curious why did you feel the need to make diablo 2, I mean why not something similar but original?

I think its a shame to put so much time and effort into something that's just a blatant copy.

If this gains a lot of popularity blizzard will be very likely to shut it down, so is it really worth it?

I still will recommend not copying or trying to ride off the fame of another title.
OP should keep everything hes done and continue to work on it but steer away from Diablo to the point that it's not a Copyright issue.

Trust me blizzard will not allow Divinity Original: Sin to make more sales due to a Popular Addon: Diablo 2.

Also just because something is free or mod doesn't mean its not illegal or theft under copyright law which this is... (I like it how the community supports such things when it suits you)
