(I may cross-link this better tomorrow. It;'s late. For now...)
  • Unpack Main.pak and Textures.pak using the most current lstools.
    • Hair model files (CP_F_HAIR_A-H.GR2 and CP_M_HAIR_A-G.GR2) can be found here:
      unpacked main\public\main\assets\characters\players
    • CP_F_HAIR_F.GR2 and CP_M_HAIR_E.GR2 are bald heads and have no texture files.
    • Otherwise, hair texture files (3 files for each, extensions .DM, .NM and .SM) can be found here:
      unpacked textures\public\main\assets\textures\characters\player
  • Decide which stock hair you don't want, and which hench-hair you do.
    • There's a picture/listing of the hench-hair floating around.
      • Female hair 1 is CP_F_HAIR_A - Madora
      • Female hair 2 is CP_F_HAIR_B - mostly shaved with a topknot
      • Female hair 3 is CP_F_HAIR_C - shaved on one side a la Skrillex
      • Female hair 4 is CP_F_HAIR_D - one thick side braid
      • Female hair 5 is CP_F_HAIR_E - two braids down the back
      • Female hair 6 is CP_F_HAIR_F - bald
      • Female hair 7 is CP_F_HAIR_G - high forehead and a loose french braid
      • Female hair 8 is CP_F_HAIR_H - long with a bandanna headband
      • Male hair 1 is CP_M_HAIR_A - Jahan
      • Male hair 2 is CP_M_HAIR_B - side part and comb-over
      • Male hair 3 is CP_M_HAIR_C - center part
      • Male hair 4 is CP_M_HAIR_D - Prussian - shaved sides, short on top
      • Male hair 5 is CP_M_HAIR_E - bald
      • Male hair 6 is CP_M_HAIR_F - long and tied back
      • Male hair 7 is CP_M_HAIR_G - cropped close
    • If you want to use Madora's hair, look up Mr. Esturk's Companion Hair mod - Madora's textures files use washed out colors by default, and he made or found replacements.
    • The male hench-head model is narrower than the male PC head model.
    • You may want to test them all in game to see which ones don't work for you.
  • In the main game installation's data folder, set up the same sub-folders structure that you found the files in.
    • Starting with data\public\main\assets\etc.)
    • You may already have them if you've been messing with stock faces and so on.
  • Copy the hench-hair files you want - models and textures - into the two correct folders and then rename them.
    • PC hair file names start with PL rather than CP. Probably "player" rather than "companion".
    • In Character creation, female hair is displayed in order.
      • Female hair 1 is PL_F_HAIR_A - long curls
      • Female hair 2 is PL_F_HAIR_B - short and loose
      • Female hair 3 is PL_F_HAIR_C - very short
      • Female hair 4 is PL_F_HAIR_D - long and loose
      • Female hair 5 is PL_F_HAIR_E - like B but even length
      • Female hair 6 is PL_F_HAIR_F - shaped pixie
      • Female hair 7 is PL_F_HAIR_G - full afro
      • Female hair 8 is PL_F_HAIR_H - long dreadlocks
      • Female hair 9 is PL_F_HAIR_I - short cornrows
      • Female hair 10 is PL_F_HAIR_J - long and braided back
      • Female hair 11 is PL_F_HAIR_K - odd flipped ends
      • Female hair 12 is PL_F_HAIR_L - Princess Leia braids
      • Female hair 13 is PL_F_HAIR_M - pig tales
      • Female hair 14 is PL_F_HAIR_N - shaped bob
      • Female hair 15 is PL_F_HAIR_O - chignon
    • Male hair is displayed in the following order because why would they make it easy?
      • Male hair 1 is PL_M_HAIR_A - mullet
      • Male hair 2 is PL_M_HAIR_H - full afro
      • Male hair 3 is PL_M_HAIR_J - spock
      • Male hair 4 is PL_M_HAIR_O - mohawk

      • Male hair 12 is PL_M_HAIR_D - short and loose
      • Male hair 13 is PL_M_HAIR_K - ponytail
      • Male hair 14 is PL_M_HAIR_I - flat top
      • Male hair 15 is PL_M_HAIR_E - don't know what the hell to call it.

If you edit the player.lsb file in the root templates folder you can simply add faces, hair, bodies to the player and henchmen templates without replacing any models

Brother, if you've figured out the data structure of that file, you're further ahead than me.

Was there a tutorial I missed, or is it really Just That Simple?

Also, there are hair models I dislike and want to replace, so that's kind of a bonus for me.

alternative way of doing stuff like this would be importing all the models and materials you want to use in the editor and put them all together, that way you do not have to use external tools. Be ware though this is much more time consuming smile

a quick tut i just made on how to make your own templates within the editor, quite usefull when you want to add your own custom visuals in the future

[Linked Image]

edit:
1. to change the skin color (if you dont like purple wink ) go to the Color 1 List (thats at the Character Visualset tab) and add a nice Skin Color to the model to your own liking
2. For the PhysicsResourceID search for Capsule_Default
3. For the AI Bounds (you can play around with this ofcourse) add 1.7 for Height and 0.25 for Width
4. If you want to change more things with the model copy it to your own Module(right click>Copy To my Module..). Now you should be able add your own material(textures) and animations (for when we can import those).

Ah see that's the problem. I couldn't work out that Arms = Hair.

Lord, I wish I could tell from context that was your typo, or really the way it is...
