Dragon Commander – Gamescom – Behind the scenes footage

Gamescom preview overview

We’re still recovering from showing the game to tons of people at Gamescom 2011, but it looks like Dragon Commander made an impression upon journalists all over the world. Here’s an overview of all the new stories we’ve seen pop up online.

Destructoid – “Seeing flying armies fight out their battles as you swoop around as a dragon with a jetpack is simply amazing.”

IGN – IGN did a top 11 of excellent PC stories from GamesCom, and included Dragon Commander, saying “Hey, remember that thing I said about dragons being awesome earlier? Well, what do you think of jetpacks? Awesome too, right? Then it’s about time that someone started putting jetpacks on dragons. They put a jetpack on your dragon so you can fly while you fly.”

BitGamer – “What strikes me though isn’t that the game has the potential to be awesome when it’s done, but that it looks fantastic already.”

RPGWatch went all the way – they not only did an extensive preview and interview, but also managed to sneakily take some handycam shots from the presentation. Quotes we liked – “Larian Studios is cool” and “The concept of the game is very interesting and if they can manage to get everything integrated in the right way this will be one very fun dragon game to play.”

Machinima – “The game is still early, but it’s genre-blending in a way that is very interesting. The team even designed a prototype board game version of the game to play test the systems and rules they had in place. And, as I mentioned, it’s very pretty.”

GamersGlobal – “From what we have seen, we were not only impressed by the graphics but also the gameplay really pleased us.”

Gamesinfusion – “The concept alone is already completely over the top, but it is done in an awesome way. Still Dragon Commander has a lot more to offer: namely, a consistently well-designed game concept that promises quite a bit of fun Friends of both strategy and role-playing games should keep their eyes on this game.”

Gamecity – “I was quite excited by what the developers presented us.”

GamesTrend – “Dragon Commander was for us the surprise of the show. It was presented behind closed doors but keep an eye on this one! We are enthusiastic about the crazy mix with its impressive technology. It became one of our secret favorites. The game catapulted itself into our hearts.”

Strategy Informer – “Best game of the show!”

We’ve been showing off some of the gameplay of Dragon Commander to the press at Gamescom and here’s some of our favorite quotes:

Strategy Informer – Best game of the show

“Visually, it’s looking great, the gameplay itself seems really engaging and, well… jetpack dragons. That’s all you need to know really.”

Gamepro

“‘Dragon+Jetpack+Turn based strategy = Awesome!”

Game Informer

“Yeah, it’s as awesome as it sounds… I have extremely high hopes for this game.”

We’ll have more soon!

“It came as a bit of a surprise to me, but Divinity 2 is one of the best RPGs I’ve played for a while.”

Gamegavel also had a good look at our dragon adventure and said the following:

“In closing, I have to say that I enjoyed Divinity II – Dragon Knight Saga quite a bit more than most other titles I played last year. Lush and beautiful level design, well written story, and a great combat engine make this a title well worth its price. I highly recommend to anyone who plays RPG’s to pick this one up as soon as possible. Its deep and engrossing plot will keep you entertained for quite a while, and I cannot stress how much fun it is to destroy an entire military base as a giant flying fire breathing lizard.”

GamesMediaPro reviews Divinity II – The Dragon Knight Saga – 10/10!

UK site GamesMediaPro gave Divinity II – The Dragon Knight Saga a thorough look and found lots to enjoy and little to complain about, resulting in an impressive 10/10 score. Here’s a snip:

“With so much going on in the main storyline it’s no wonder then that it will take people so long to complete this title. Add to that the huge amount of side missions, quests, battles, exploration and real quality gameplay and you have what is rapidly being considered by all those who have experienced The Dragon Knight Saga as the definitive RPG title of the year.”

Two more reviews for Divinity II – The Dragon Knight Saga!

Vgblogger played through Divinity II – The Dragon Knight Saga and while they don’t hand out numerical scores, they did have this to say:

“Divinity II – Dragon Knight Saga is my favorite RPG from 2010. I thoroughly enjoyed the original game, and found the add-on a thrill to work through. I have already started again to replay as a pure warrior, since I played my prototypical mage first. If you were on the fence about this game, don’t hold back anymore – this is definitely worth playing.”

And Impulse Gamer rated Divinity II – The Dragon Knight Saga 88% saying

“It is not only recommended for fans of the original game, but for anyone who want to embark into a new roleplaying adventure with a lot of intelligent humour.”
