With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Senior Scripter to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

At Larian, the Gameplay Scripting team plays a central role in breathing life into our projects. Scripters collaborate with a range of Larian teams, from Cinematics to Writing, to implement and augment the narrative vision - using our proprietary tools and game editor. Gameplay Scripting truly defines the player experience in a Larian game - by ensuring every decision made has depth, consequence and resonance. 
Scripter

Responsibilities

  • Take internal narrative pitches and create engaging gameplay sequences, with a wide variety of outcomes, to reward player agency and deliver a fun experience
  • Collaborate closely with the Worldbuilding team to create outstanding game content
  • Contribute towards and own gameplay features and scripting mechanics, organising teams around feature creation
  • Prepare designs for content implementations, and execute the implementation using our proprietary game editor and internal scripting languages. 
  • Align with the Scripting Leadership on priorities and deadlines
  • Seek to continuously improve our development processes and efficiency of implementation and iteration
  • Grow the skills of your local team, mentor Junior staff and facilitate knowledge sharing 
  • Be a gatekeeper of quality, proactively flag issues and risks with Scripting Leadership and Worldbuilding team

Requirements

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Professional Technical Design, Gameplay Scripting or Programming experience
  • Creative Game Design skills - keeping the player experience front and center, showing an ability to innovate and iterate consistently with feedback.
  • Organisational, analytical and communicative skills to work on requirements, feedback and pitch ideas, identify risks and opportunities
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise & manage tasks independently 
  • Collaborative skills - enjoys collaboration with a diverse range of teams, and can influence positively 

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Lua or other scripting languages
  • Experience developing RPG games in a technical designer or programming role
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Perforce version control software 
  • Experience modding RPG or other types of games
  • DnD or other tabletop experience
