Baldur's Gate 3

How to submit a Bug Report

Thank you for taking the time to submit a report and help us make improvements to the game. We appreciate every report and do our best to keep players up to date regarding known issues.

To help our team begin an investigation into a bug, there are a few things that we’d really appreciate from you to help expedite the process so we can work on getting a fix out as quickly as possible.

Before submitting your report, there is some general troubleshooting which may help either fix the issue directly or rule out some potential issues.

A few general actions you can take:

Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files...' button.
If you are using the GOG version, in the Galaxy client, select the game, then the settings icon at the top right, beside the Play button and under Manage Installation, select 'Verify / Repair'.

Try browsing to the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache' folder and delete the contents. A corrupt file there can cause problems, usually when saving or loading. The easiest way to get there would be to copy the following line below into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache

In the launcher, try switching between DirectX 11 and Vulkan as applicable, to see if that makes a difference.

Try dropping the graphics settings to very low, as well as lowering the resolution as much as possible, and switch to Windowed display mode. If that seems to help, increase the resolution and settings to see if you can find an acceptable level which still avoids the issue you are experiencing.

Try exiting out of the Steam client, or Galaxy for the GOG version, and start the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin' folder, by right clicking the executable (bg3.exe for Vulkan, or bg3_dx11.exe) and running as administrator.

Are you getting a data mismatch error in the launcher? If so, it would have created a log file listing any files in the install folder which are not expected, as well as files in the Mods folder. To check this, if applicable, copy the following line into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Launcher\Cache Then look for a text file named steam_<VersionNumber>_alteredFiles.txt (or similarly, starting with 'galaxy_', for the GOG version).

Now that you’ve ruled out some of the common causes of issues outside of the game itself, it’s time to submit your report. If you can, please provide some crucial information in your description:

- Is the issue consistent or occasional?

- Any troubleshooting steps that you’ve already tried.

- A description of what is happening vs. what the desired result should be.

- Any reproduction steps.

If you are playing in multiplayer, please let us know if the issue is happening whether you are hosting or joining a game. It is also helpful to know if you still experience the same issue while not in multiplayer.

In order to submit the report, we also require an attachment. This can be a .jpeg or .png if the issue can be easily identified, such as a dialogue or UI issue. If the issue is the result of an action or more complex in nature, we would love it if you could attach a save file either where the issue is occurring or beforehand, where the issue can be reproduced. You can check out how to retrieve and send a save file here. If you are experiencing a crash at a certain point in the game, please attach a crash dump file with your report.
