Baldur's Gate 3
ISSUE: Radial Wheel Lag/Freeze
The team is currently aware of an issue regarding the radial wheel when using a controller that is causing lagging or even freezing. While some steps to improve this were released with the latest hot fix, we know more work is needed to fix this experience for players.
While the team is working on this, we have found a workaround that greatly improves the experience:
Consoles: turn off Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), disable Performance Mode.
- To disable VRR on a PS5, navigate to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > VRR and select Off
- To disable performance mode on a PlayStation 5, navigate to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Game Presets > Performance Mode or Resolution Mode and select Resolution Mode.
- To disable VRR on your Xbox (X or S), navigate to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video modes > Variable refresh rate and select Off
PC or Mac: set VSync on and Frame Rate Cap off (or high/matching their refresh rate).
- To adjust VSync and disable Frame Rate Cap, in game navigate to Options > Video > Display. There, you'll find the FPS Cap option, which you can disable.
- For VSync, you can also find the setting within the same Video tab. You can choose between double buffering, triple buffering, but do not have it disabled.
