Baldur's Gate 3

Mod Information

We loved what our modding community did with DOS2, and we’re excited to see what they’ll do with BG3. Modding is not currently supported, but will be at a later date.

If you are having an issue trying to launch the game, or in game, you should remove any existing mod files, especially after a major game update.

Check the 'Mods' and 'Public' folders in the '...\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' install folder; if either folder is present, they are safe to delete. If applicable, you can also delete the modsettings.lsx file in the profile folder, if you're not using a new profile for the current patch.

The game uses the local AppData folder, rather than Documents (C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3). For compatibility, if the game is started and is there is no local AppData folder for the game, but there is in Documents, the existing profiles and configuration files are copied over, which can copy old mods there, as well. In Windows an easy way to get to that folder would be to copy %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter.

In the launcher, if you click on the button with the gear icon (in the bottom left of the window) and scroll down, there are buttons to open the profile folder or open the installation folder.

If the launcher is giving a mismatch data warning, it will have created a log file listing any files in the install folder which are not expected, as well as files in the Mods folder. To check it, copy %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Launcher\Cache into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter, then look for a text file named steam_<Current.Version.Number>_alteredFiles.txt (or similarly, starting with 'galaxy_', for the GOG version).

If you are still having an issue launching the game, or in game, please contact support using the Contact Support form.
