Patch 7 - Multiplayer Issue: "Connection Failed - Error" (Steam)

At the moment, there is a known issue prohibiting players on PC from connecting to multiplayer via their Steam Friends List. While the team investigates the issue, you can still continue or start a multiplayer session using Direct Connect.

Enabling Direct Connect

Hosting a Multiplayer session

After launching the game, have the host load into their campaign.

Once in game, press Esc to open the main menu and select multiplayer.

In the multiplayer menu, click on the gear icon on the top of the screen to open the Session Settings menu.

Next select the Direct Connection box and click the icon to copy the Direct Connection ID onto your clipboard.

Share the Direct Connection ID with your friends to allow them to connect to your game.

Joining a Multiplayer session

Before loading a save file or launching a new campaign, click on Multiplayer from the main menu.

Select the Direct Connect option from the menu on the right-hand side and input the Direct Connection ID you’ve received from your game Host.

Click Connect to finish and join your friends in Multiplayer!

Modded Multiplayer Sessions

It is important to remember when attempting to play a multiplayer session with mods that all players must have the same mods installed (no more, no less) and that all players have updated their mods to the same version.

The game will verify this for you and provide a menu for flagging any modding issues that need to be rectified before you can connect.
